IVF experts of the best IVF clinic in Ghaziabad – Gunjan IVF World share an informative article on IVF surrogacy success rates.
IVF surrogacy success rates depend on multiple factors like age of the egg provider, quality of the embryos, health of the surrogate, etc. Read this highly informative article by IVF experts of the best IVF center in Delhi – Gunjan IVF World about what is surrogacy and its success rates.
What is IVF surrogacy?
“Before enquiring about surrogacy rates, it is important to know what surrogacy is. In IVF surrogacy, eggs are retrieved from the mother or a donor. They are then fertilised with the sperm of the father or a donor in a laboratory setting. The embryos formed are the transferred to a gestational surrogate, a woman who takes the pregnancy to term. These surrogates are not usually genetically related to the baby,” stated Dr. Gunjan Gupta, well-known gynaecologist Ghaziabad and Founder & Director of Gunjan IVF World – the third time winner of North India’s best IVF clinic chain by ETHealthWorld. Gunjan IVF World has four highly advanced IVF clinics at Indirapuram, Janakpuri, Meerut and Noida.
Understanding the success rates
- Overall success rate: “The overall success rate here refers to the live birth per embryo transfer. The average rage of success is usually between 55-75% per embryo transfer. This however, varies clinic-to-clinic and also depends on many circumstances,” mentioned Dr. Garima Sharma, Centre In-Charge & Consultant of the best IVF clinic in Janakpuri – Gunjan IVF World.

Success by egg source: “Another important fact to keep a check on is the rate of success with egg source. With donor eggs where the woman’s age is under 35 years, the success rate is around 65-75%. In cases where own eggs are used and the woman’s age is under 35 years, the success rate is around 50-60%. This rate however, drops to 10-25% for women over 40 years of age who use their own eggs, said Dr. Gunjan Gupta.
- Success by embryo quality and stage: The success rates of blastocyst-stage embryos (Day 5-6) are higher compared to those in the cleavage-stage (Day 3). Chromosomally-screened embryos (via PGT-A) improve implantation and reduce miscarriage rates.
- Depends on surrogate health and history: Surrogates with proven pregnancies, good uterine health and no major medical issues have higher success.
- Key influencing factors: The success of IVF surrogacy depends majorly on factors like age of the egg donor, the quality of the embryo, the health of the surrogate, etc. The expertise of the IVF clinic, the use of genetic screening, etc. have a moderate impact on the success rate as well.
