Read this short article by IVF experts of the best IVF clinic in Delhi – Gunjan IVF World on how to calculate pregnancy weeks in IVF.
Calculating pregnancy weeks after IVF is definitely slightly different from a natural conception. That is so because, in case of IVF you know the exact date of embryo transfer. Read this interesting article by IVF experts of the best IVF clinic in Ghaziabad – Gunjan IVF World on how to calculate IVF pregnancy.
IVF pregnancy weeks calculation: The how
There are mainly two common methods of calculating IVF pregnancy which depend on the type of embryo that has been transferred.
“Embryo transfer on Day 5 is extremely common. In such cases the pregnancy starts 2 weeks before ovum retrieval, just like any natural conception (LMP style). If you have had a day-5 embryo transfer, it means that the embryo is already 5 days post fertilisation at the time of the transfer. A simple formula to calculate is IVF Pregnancy Start Date + Embryo Transfer Date = 19 Days. 19 days here stands for 14 days (standard luteal phase assumed) + 5 days (embryo age). For Day 3 transfer, the formula is IVF Pregnancy Start Date = Embryo Transfer Date – 17 Days,” stated Dr. Gunjan Gupta, well-known gynaecologist Ghaziabad and Director & Founder of Gunjan IVF World – the best IVF clinic in Ghaziabad. Gunjan IVF World has been bestowed with the award of North India’s best IVF clinic chain for three times in a row by ETHealthWorld and has four highly advanced centres at Indirapuram, Janakpuri, Noida and Meerut.
How to calculate the weeks?
“Once you have the IVF adjusted LMP, you need to count the number of weeks and days from that date. The best way to keep track is by using an online due date calculator with ‘LMP’ input. Every seven days is equal to one week and you need to add remaining days as days,” mentioned Dr. Garima Sharma, Consultant and Centre In-Charge of the best IVF center in Janakpuri – Gunjan IVF World.
Bonus: Due Date Calculation
Estimated Due Date (EDD) = Embryo Transfer Date + 266 days
