From “Zero” to Twins: A Miracle Journey of IVF Treatment with Self Sperm at Gunjan IVF World
For Deepshikha and Abhimanyu, the road to parenthood was paved with four years of uncertainty and a diagnosis that many men find devastating: Azoospermia, or a zero sperm count.
After years of searching for answers, they previously attempted an IVF cycle in 2022 using donor sperm. Not only was it emotionally difficult to move away from the hope of a biological child, but the treatment also ended in failure. They arrived at Gunjan IVF World Janakpuri seeking a miracle and a chance to try IVF treatment with self sperm.
Challenging the “Donor Only” Narrative
When the couple met Dr Garima Sharma, they were looking for a way to avoid donor programs. At our Fertility clinic, we specialize in advanced Azoospermia treatment by looking deeper for a biological solution.
Dr. Sharma and our surgical team discussed advanced sperm retrieval techniques like PESA (Percutaneous Epidural Sperm Aspiration) and TESA (Testicular Sperm Aspiration). These procedures are designed specifically for men with Azoospermia to find viable sperm directly from the source. To the couple’s immense relief, healthy sperm were successfully retrieved via TESA and frozen for their cycle. This was the first major victory in their journey toward IVF treatment without donor sperm.
Overcoming Double Hurdles
The journey wasn’t without its challenges on both sides. During the stimulation phase, Deepshikha showed a poor response, with only four oocytes (eggs) retrieved. In fertility treatments, we often say it’s about quality, not just quantity.
Using the husband’s retrieved sperm and Deepshikha’s eggs, our embryology team successfully created two high-quality embryos. The embryo transfer was performed with precision, and the couple began the nervous wait for results.
A Double Blessing
The news was better than they ever imagined. Not only was the IVF treatment successful, but the couple was expecting twins! Today, Deepshikha and Abhimanyu are the proud parents of a healthy baby boy and a baby girl.
Their story is a powerful reminder that Azoospermia is not always the final answer. With advanced male infertility techniques like TESA, biological fatherhood is often still possible.
