Common symptoms of IVF success
Implantation bleeding or spotting: “The first symptom of pregnancy usually happens 6-12 days after the embryo transfer when women may find light spotting or pinkish discharge. This happens when the embryo is attaching onto the uterine lining. The discharge is usually lighter than a period and does not last long (a few hours to 1-2 days),” stated Dr. Gunjan Gupta, a talked about gynaecologist Ghaziabad and Founder & Director of Gunjan IVF World – a leading IVF clinic in Ghaziabad. Gunjan IVF World is the third time winner of North India’s best IVF clinic chain award from ETHealthworld and has clinics at Indirapuram, Janakpuri, Noida and Meerut.
Cramping: “Another visible symptom is mild cramping which happens around the time of implantation. Uterine cramps happen mostly because the embryo implants and the uterus begin to change. It is important to know that light cramping is normal, intense pain is not and should be checked,” said Dr. Garima Sharma, Consultant & Centre In-Charge of Gunjan IVF World – well- known IVF clinic in Janakpuri.
Breast tenderness: Rise in estrogen and progesterone leads to sore and swollen breasts. This could also be a side effect of the hormonal medications.
Tiredness or fatigue: Early pregnancy hormones can make a woman feel tired. Fatigue is a very common symptom during early pregnancy and IVF success.
Nausea: Most women experience nausea during early pregnancy. This can begin in 1-2 weeks after transfer but is more common after 4-6 weeks of pregnancy. Rise in hCG levels cause nausea and changes in appetite or food preferences.
Urge for frequent urination: With the rise in hCG and progesterone levels, blood flow to the pelvic area increases causing kidney functions to change, leading to more frequent urination.
Enhanced Basal Body Temperature (BBT): A consistently high BBT (above 98°F / 36.7°C) after ovulation/embryo transfer may suggest pregnancy.
