What we eat plays a vital role on the outcomes of IVF treatment. Read this article by IVF experts of the best IVF center in Delhi – Gunjan IVF World on the best diet for successful IVF outcomes.
The importance of well-balanced Indian diet
“A well-balanced India diet can help in supporting the success of IVF treatment by optimising hormone balance, egg quality and uterine health. No particular diet can guarantee pregnancy but there are certain foods that can improve the overall reproductive health, reduce inflammation and support a healthy weight – all of which impact IVF outcomes,” said Dr. Gunjan Gupta, well-known gynaecologist Ghaziabad and Medical Director & Founder of Gunjan IVF World – the best IVF clinic in Ghaziabad. Gunjan IVF World has four highly advanced IVF clinics at Indirapuram, Janakpuri, Noida and Meerut. It is also the three times winner of North India’s best IVF clinic chain by ETHealthWorld.
Simple diet plan to enhance IVF outcomes
- Diet for the morning: “Start the mornings early, i.e., at 7:00 am. Drink a glass of warm water with lemon or soaked fenugreek seeds, which help in digestion and insulin sensitivity. Soak 4-5 almonds or walnuts the night before and eat them in the morning. These are rich in omega-3 and vitamin E,” stated Dr. Garima Sharma, Consultant and Centre In-Charge of the best IVF centre in Janakpuri – Gunjan IVF World.
- Breakfast time diet: Breakfast should be a balanced mix of nutritious food. People can choose between vegetable poha or upma with peas and carrots, multigrain paratha made of ragi, jowar, whole wheat along with curd, oats porridge with flaxseeds and fresh fruits, moong dal chila with mint chutney, idli or sambar with veggies. Adding a boiled egg can also be helpful.
- Mid-morning meals: Always include fresh fruit like papaya, berries, apple and pomegranate or a glass of coconut water or buttermilk. It is very important to avoid fruit juices because they have added sugar.
- Meal for lunch: Include 1-2 multigrain rotis or a cup of rice, preferably red or brown rice along with 1 bowl of dal or chana/rajma/lobia. Add 1 sabji which could be leafy greens, okra, bottle gourd, carrot, pumpkin, etc. Include veggies like cucumber, beetroot, carrots, lemon as salad. Pair with curd or plain yogurt. Non-vegetarians can have grilled fish (rich in omega-3), 2-3 times in a week.
- Light evening snack: Go for light evening snacks. Have roasted makhanas (fox nuts), nuts & seeds like sunflower, pumpkin, chia or flax, herbal tea and sprout salad or 1 boiled egg. Stay away from processed snacks or caffeine.
- Dinner diet: Dinner should always be the lightest. Eat vegetable khichdi or vegetable soup along with paneer. Go for moong dal, lauki sabzi and roti. You can also include grilled vegetables with hummus or whole wheat roti. Make sure to avoid heavy, oily and spicy meals at night.
